1863 PERCUSSION MILITARY RIFLE

Post by klw »

I've ordered one of these things three times over the last 20 or so years. Every time I do it some MAJOR financial disaster strikes and I have to give up my deposite. I'm not superstitous EXCEPT for ordering one of these things. But...

One of the questions that I have never figured out is how well does the gas sealing mechanism work in this particular model and how often, if ever, does it need to be replaced? I've studied the other options, like the o-ring modification, and come to the conclusion that they are not for me. But how well and how long does the mechanism here work?

I shoot one at NSSA . over 3K rounds no problems still original breech plate. Fired it about 60 times in competition this past weekend, only thin I did was run a bore brush down about every 10 rounds. Last shot cycled as easy as 1st shot. The Shiloh is the class act of the '59 and '63 Sharps.
