Farewell '63

Post by GST »

Took my Farmingdale carbine to the local mufler shop and trot line sinker emporium and put it on consignment the other day. Ordered a new Hawken gun to replace it. Haven't shot the '63 in years thought I'd get more use out of the Hawken.

Would be interested to know what you hope to get from the 63?

I have an older TC Hawkin in mint condition if you want to do some trading.

Please don't sigh to the point of hyperventilating everything is really OK. The novelty of the '63 wore off after 15 years or so. It was more trouble than it was fun anymore. Still got a couple of '74 Shilohs so I doubt to go through any withdrawel.
Ever since the 70's I have craved a good full stock Hawken. A GRRW was always highly coveted but was just out of my reach back then, I had to settle for one of their Lehmans. I have ordered a new fullstock percussion from a fellow forum member and hopefuly it will scratch my itch. We all go through cycles I think.

I do understand, GST. I went through the same thing with certain S&W revolvers. Unfortunately as I got older and wiser, I became less and less fond of them when I realized I wasn't using them anymore, so several are going on the block the first of next month. Besides, I do have a new rifle in production at Big Timber, and the money will help pay the freight on the new 74. I figure that if I'm not using something there must be someone who will enjoy it.

But I waited over 30 years to get my first 63, so I don't figure I'll be getting rid of them any time soon.

Enjoy the Hawken. I've got one of those too. :)

The jimmy carter govt put them out of buisness with their socialist economic programs ( sound familiar?). Luckily I got my Hawken before they shut their doors.( 3 digit serial # & two of them are zeros).

Snapcap- I'm kind of reluctant to post my asking price. May be against forum rules banning listing stuff for sale. If it don't move in couple of months I'll bring it home and wait. I doubt if it will get cheaper.
