My carbine is no more...

Post by Free_Stater »

I prefer the musket, and the carbine was sort of an impulse purchase. And the economy sucks, and I needed the cash, and *sigh* I'll never have another one.

You're not alone. I'm still trying to find my first Shiloh 1863 carbine. The serial number was 1848 just like the patent date!
I had gotten possession of a big "50" gun early in the fight, and was making considerable noise with it.

I got rid of mine a year or so ago but got nowhere near what you got. Some people have all the luck. My reasoning was different, the Sharps was just to much of a PITA a very poor improvement over a muzzle loader. Now my '74s are a different story. Got a Parker-Hale musketoon a while back, a lot less nooks and crannies to clean.
