Just won a Farmingdale 1863
I just won the bid on a .50 cal. Farmer 1863 in near new condition. I'll send off a M.O. tomorrow and hopefully have it next week. Any pearls of wisdom?

Wisdom? Don't hang it on the wall and admire it, get out and shoot it, by jingles!

That's the plan. Just struck a deal today for an 1862 made carbine converted to 50-70. Three groove with a shiny bore.

I received the 1863 yesterday and it exceeds my expectations. It is beautiful and if it was ever shot it has maybe 5 rounds thru it. It is virtually brand new. Now I just need to get some bullets and musket caps.

I know the feeling also. About a year and half ago I too won an Farmingdale from one of the auction sites. What was so cool about it that I got the carbine for the asking price. So shoot the weapon and enjoy it my friend. There is non better then what you have. Mike

Just wondering, did u get a change to give the Farmingdale a test drive yet? If so, what did you end up using for powder and bullet combo and how we're the results?
