That is how I have been doing it with my #1 Shiloh, it's been working good for me .

That is what I have been thinking about doing. Seems like it would be an interesting way to charge the chamber.

That is the way I load to and it works very good and accurate. When hunting I carry a few xtra loads in speed load containers and no problem.

Finally got around to making some paper cartridges from perm paper not works of art but I think they will work have 55G of Goex 2F will seat the bullet and then put the charge up against the bullet base, see what it will do at 100 yards

To me they look good enough . I don't know if you have used paper loads before so I will put it out there .I have found that if I have to much paper at the end the cap want always burn through to set it off . Kirk told me the best way was to set charge & make small hole in center to expose powder to flash. I have been using Hahn's tubes , they work good . That way paper at end is only one layer thick. Mine is a 40cal & am loading 60 gr swiss & a under 300gr bullet . I just got some Schuetzen caps to try . See if they will work better with out need of making hole in charge . Hope this helps . Have fun .

I thought the Paper Cutter Sharps was designed to cut the rear off of the paper cartridge exposing the powder????? Just my thought. :? :? :?

It is and that its the way it is supposed to work. Insert the cartridge; pull the "tail," and close the breech. The powder is exposed and the rifle goes bang when the hammer drops on the cap. Works just fine for me, even with crappy caps.

For reliable ignition I put a square of paper towel at the bottom of my paper tubes. It always catches fire.

I may try this in future ..... coat the base of the paper cartridge in glue and then dip it into some FFFg powder. The base of Pyrodex pellets have a coating of BP for better ignition.

I don't shoot my .50 '63 MR and SRC much these days, so I may hunt with a '63 a few times this year and I'll coat my rds with a clear lacquer to water proof them and make them better to handle.
