Pedersoli 1863

As Shiloh no longer makes an 1863, I am thinking of buying a Pedersoli 1863. My questions is: Are Pedersoli's made on a metric standard or do they try to keep them as an original Sharps? SAE? Seems to me, I remember their chambers being different.

I don't know about the Pedersoli, but if it was me I'd look for a used Shiloh 1863. There are lots of them around and probably don't cost much more. Might as well have the best.

I have two Shilohs and one Pedersoli, all in .45-70 and I cannot tell that there is any difference in the chambers. Ammunition for the two Shilohs - and my original rolling block with a Green Mountain barrel installed by Lone Star - fits the Pedersoli too. Don't know for sure about screw threads in general but the screws used to mount a tang sight on all three are interchangeable.

Thank you MacRob: I think the differences in chambers are in the percussion models. I can't remember what they are. I have a military Shiloh musket. I haven't seen a Sporting 1863 model in a long time. I'm not sure I really need one.

LOL, of course you need another! Your 1st one is lonely. I have a safe queen and 2 shooters. If I had more room I would probably get another.
