can a '63 be converted to fire 45/70 cartridges??

Hello, all. can the model 1863 be converted to fire .45/70 gvnt cartridges? i have a '63 and would like to switch to metalic cart. but right now i can't afford a new rifle. thanks, Dave :)

Dave,

If Kirk would do the conversion, I think it would be more expensive then what it's worth. You would be better off selling the '63 and buying a new/used Shiloh '74. If you can't afford that, maybe buy a Pedersoli and shoot it until you can get a Shiloh.

I was looking at Gunbroker or Gunsamerica and someone has an 1863 conversion to, I think 50-70.

Make that 45-110 and it is on Gunbroker.com. Shiloh did not do the work.
