roundballs in '63

Post by loophole »

Does anyone have any thoughts on using roundballs in the 63? The reasons would be cheap bullets for plinking without casting.

Yes. I made up cartridges with round ball and befor adding powder dipped the ball end into melted lube then when cool added powder and twisted the end shut. I could send details in a scan if you need them.

Thanks, friend.
What dia. ball did you use? What sort of accuracy did you get?
I think I can figure out how to make the cartridge--I'm thinking about loading ball and loose powder to gbegin with.

My notes show .535" and .530" ball but, both were made up in cartridge form. Sorry I'm not a good note taker I have no record of how accurite they were. I would like to hear how you do with them.
