1 elk, 3 antelope, 1 deer. The sharps and the longbow are ready for action.

Buck antelope for me!
I had gotten possession of a big "50" gun early in the fight, and was making considerable noise with it.

Landowner antelope, and a type 6 elk for here at the house, that leaves me the option to the high country on a general license

What units are you nonresidents planning on leaving gut piles in? Old doe shooter you must a have a great unit if you have drawn for sixteen years straight. I'm going to use the 50 2 1/2 Hartford on the goats, break it in right.

I'm hoping the 44-77 is here by that time, otherwise I'll have to dig around and see if I can find something else to use

Well Don I'd be pretty surprized if you changed the frt sight insert to a post that the 45-70 you used at Big Hill wouldn't get the job done. I been thinking of running some .440 45 TGBS slicks out at 500 grains 1 in 60 alloy for goat-a-lopes ,you need some to try? bobwDon McDowell wrote:I'm hoping the 44-77 is here by that time, otherwise I'll have to dig around and see if I can find something else to use

Re: WYOMING DRAW LIST UP NOW
My buck antelope tag is in 48. I may pick up some leftover doe tags for antelope and mulies in the same general area.
Also have Colorado tags for elk and antelope.
No doubt will be donating meat again this year since the railroad stopped buying!

Actually, it's all in the research. Why apply where there are few tags and lots of competition?
Wyo posts the draw odds for each area. Call the biologists and they know the ranchers.
Not any huge ones where I go but always plenty of goats to pick from when your eyes
get tired of looking through a spotting scope and your index finger gets to itching.

Re: WYOMING DRAW LIST UP NOW
Bob yeh I'ld try a few of those, I liked the promise they shown with your 110 at Baker. Thanks.
Stephen this is the first time in quite a while I've actually been a little wound up about going and doing some hunting. Kodiak will be here with an antelope tag burning a hole in his pocket, and he was mumbling about picking up a deer license, have to see if he brings his new Shiloh or if he falls back on his old worn out roller.

Re: WYOMING DRAW LIST UP NOW
Bobw I killed an antelope (134 yards) and a whitetail buck (174 yards) with a .440 490 grain ppb about 5 years ago in my dad's 45 2 1/10 Number 1 sporter, that's back when I was Sharps poor, I had to barrow a good rifle. The .440 bullet patched with 9lbs onion skin paper puts them down.Don McDowell wrote:Bob yeh I'ld try a few of those, I liked the promise they shown with your 110 at Baker. Thanks.

Don it's good to get wound up every once in awhile, it's good for the soul. I am taking 10 days off in September to hunt antelope, elk and deer. For the past 5 years we have did a bow/Sharps hunt on my pards land. I enjoy the getting away more then anything, just the prairie's and the mountains. I still need to talk to my hunting partner, I'm trying to talk him out of bringing down his stainless, camoflage, sabot shooting, scope mounted muzzleloader, he needs something with class if your going to kill an antelope. I won't even let his muzzleloader get withing 10 feet of my Sharps.

Stephen tell him those abominations are illegal to use in Wyoming. If he needs to borrow a rifle we'll fix him up with something proper.
