Are Shiloh 45-70 barrel bores tapered from the breech to muzzel? If so how much, and what is the proper bullet dia. to use? I slugged my bbl. twice from the muzzel, and got .457', but it was obvious that the force to push was getting less as the slug went down the bore. It all but fell out at the breech.
The rifle shoots well, but I want to get the best out of it.

Are Shiloh BBl's tapered.
Thanks for the information, it's much appreciated.
I'm also courious as to what my bbl twist is. I've tried measuirng it my self, but must be having trouble with my "tight patch" slipping, etc., because so far, i've got measuremnt of 17 1/2" 18 1/2" and near 20'.
so obviousl;y my technique is poor.
I have a 34" 45-70 std. wt. octagional bbl on a Shiloh long range express rifle.
