sharps with creedmore sight problem.

Post by shotgunwilly »

i felt like you guys needed a good laugh, so here go's. i recently picked up a 45/70 1874. i know nothing about these guns but i know when a gun shoots a foot low at 100 yds. the gun will shoot .75 at 50 and 1.812 for 5 shots a 100 yds.
i decided to put a creedmore tang sight on it and try my hand at 200 yd silouette.
to shorten up the story, when i fire the rifle with 405 gr bullets at 1350 fps the rear sight folds down tword the rear and smackes me in the middle of the forehead. now you can laugh.
i don't know if it my shooting it wrong or a week detent on the rear sight but it will give you one hell of a flinch after a couple shots.

stop laughing and give me your opinion!

Shotgunwilly,

That has happened with my Axtel sight and MVA. If you can feel the detent in the staff when it locks and will not move by it's self the sight is fine. Then wear a cap to prevent the virtical red bars from appearing on your forehead
