Watkins, Colo Silhouette match 2-2-13

Watkins Black Powder Cartridge Silhouette Match for February 2, 2013

We were greeted by a brisk winter day! It was cool with 10 mph winds in the AM and then warming up to needing just light jackets by matches end and we shot in variable winds all day. Sometimes gusting, sometimes very steady but always there. 53 degrees F was reached by match end.

The really big news is the great score Klaus Schattleitner shot today. All BPCR matches are fun but some are punctuated by noteworthy events. In this noteworthy match Klaus not only shot an unusually high score of 35-40 but he shot 9 chickens to do it. Klaus shot a good prone score for the conditions of 10-8 & 8. BUT the wind gods steadied up the winds just enough for good holding when he came to the Chicken line. We watched as Klaus shot and hit his first four chickens. We were holding our breath while he lined up his 5th chicken and missed wide. Groans came from the peanut gallery. Klaus started his 2nd bank and hit the first four again! Now the whole place is watching and the clock is getting low on time and his spotter counts down from 10 seconds and Klaus lets his last shot go and CLANG! He gets his last chicken for 5- in- a Row and NINE total chickens! His feet weren’t touching the ground the rest of the day!

Jack Odor, following Klaus on the chickens stepped up and shot 2 on the first bank and 5 as in 5-in-a Row on the second bank for a total of seven chickens and almost no one noticed! Klaus was a hard act to follow!

All scores were of a possible 40.

Match winner – Shooting a 35-Klaus Schattleitner, 1st AAA- 28-Jack Odor, 2nd AAA – 23 -Cody Smith. In AA – 1st – 28 - Craig Wolf and in A class – Wade Job - 18

Row pins of note:
Michael Jackson found 10 Turkeys early in the morning in tricky winds and both Jack Odor and Klaus Schattleitner shot 5-in-a Row Chicken s

Way to go Klaus! You are my new hero. Now if you come back up to Butte and shoot with us some more you should be able to get that 4th one too.

Congratulations on some fine shooting.

I think at Klaus's age it might be more of a, semi-auto..... 3 round burst....single shot....3 round burst...semi-auto...etc.. :D

Good Shooting Klaus, sorry I missed it.
