Old Brass ??

Post by Frank »

A old friend of mine gave me a plastic bag with a lot of old empty 45-70 brass and some loaded brass. He wanted to know if they had any value. Some of you collectors may be able to help with information as to value if any.
There are 11 different head stamps on the brass. I will try to tell you what the stamps are.

1. WRA 45-70 - 2 ea. empty and 8 loaded with a brass & lead bullet

2. UMC 45 GOVT - 5 ea. empty a large ring around the stamping

3. 11 F 89 - 2 ea. the 89 could be a 68

4. 8 R 90 W - 5 ea. the 90 could be a 06

5. S UMC H 45-70 - 5 ea.

6. USC CO 45-70 - 5 ea.

7. 2 R 06 W - 4 ea. the 06 could be a 90

8. WRA CO 45-70 - 6 ea. three are loaded brass & lead bullet

9. WRA 45-70 GOVT - 11 ea.

10. WESTERN 45-70 GOVT - 4 ea.

Any help anyone can give me would be great. Other than the 8 WRA 45-70 loaded rounds the rest of the brass is in very good condition, looks like it could be used again, but will not be.

YES THEY HAVE SOME COLLECTOR VALUE ! The ones with just dates or numbers and a letter maybe government issue ! Look for a cartridge collecting book at a Barnes and Nobel type store and check what they say about the markings and value ! JAGG
