PHOENIX 1000 YARDS RESULTS

This is where you can place your scores from the matches. It uses an excel spread sheet! If you send me your sheet of scores I can put it on the forum and provide a link where everyone can view it.

Yeah, and you know what Don?

When you plug that factual information into a ballistics program I am told it usually gives you one of two answers depending on the program.

Answer #1, Impossible.

Answer #2, Does not compute.

Now just how helpful were those ballistics programs.

The only known was where the bullet landed down range, if that. That's the only solid information you have to go on.

Bruce, I could not agree with your observation more.
As I age however, I find it increasingly difficult to see the invisible.
If the condition is not in the mirage and not in the flags or other visible indicator where would one go to see the unseen?

yes zack, you summed it up.
sometimes there is a no shoot condition. all you have to do is see it and not shoot!

That is why the Cup and the 1000 yard matches were set up on their short time periods.
No laying on the mat waiting out a condition. You have to adjust to get your shots off.
That is what makes those matches challenging.

I thought you said it's so you could start drinking again by 2.

You mean you can't call a match and have a few cocktails?
You probably can't drink and then drive home either.

I've seen your bumper. You might have fallen from Master to Marksmen in that category.

Steve Rhoades wrote:My last two shots at 600 yards yesterday were made with all flags hanging on the poles and whirly gig prop still.
the 9th shot was a 3:00 miss just outside the 5 ring. Shot that on zero windage.
The next shot in the exact same conditions with 6 1/2 min. of left shot an X.
Go figure that caca!!!
It takes a lot of courage (and I mean that) to dial in 6.5 minutes to account for something you don't see or all reason and logic tells you that it is not there.
Kudos to you Steve for trusting your load, rifle, sight picture and trigger break and having the courage to say, "OK...there's something there I don't see...but if I do that again, the same results will happen. So...wind gods...here's 6.5 minutes".

Nicely done...very nicely done.

Eric,
It was a partnership call.
Chip and I agreed to do that and we just got lucky and we are still shaking our heads!
Actually the flags were dead but the mirage was starting to run so we added extra.

There is reason to suspect that Chip may have garnered a Huey magic chicken foot and put it to the test?
