This is where you can place your scores from the matches. It uses an excel spread sheet! If you send me your sheet of scores I can put it on the forum and provide a link where everyone can view it.

2018 Rocky Mtn. Regional Match Report and Results

Post by COBPTR »

Big thanks and congratulations to all the competitors who showed up to participate in this past weekend’s 6th annual High Plains 1000yd Challenge Money Match and 7th annual Rocky Mountain Regional. It was unusually hot for Colorado in September, record setting to be exact. Temps were hot enough on Friday for the Money Match that we voted almost unanimously to shoot an all 1000yd match on Saturday under the cover, as opposed to the planned 800, 900, 1000yd Creedmoor. Sunday we had a successful midrange match out in the sun for our 300, 500, 600yd course of fire with the help of lots of water and some relief in the pits.

The Money Match started out with a big score in the conditions from Robert Garibay on his first relay with an 86-1x but he was not able to maintain on later relays after a couple of misses that were hard to see in the thick mirage. Bryan Youngberg and Zack Taylor’s consistency paid off in the end where they were battling it out until the last relay. After starting with a miss on the 3rd string, Bryan was able to focus up and put up a big score for a 2 point win over Zack. This puts Bryan’s name on the Money Match trophy for a 2nd time in 4 years.

The all 1000yd match on Saturday started with Jim Jones putting up a huge 134 on his first string . Robert Garibay put up the high score on the 2nd relay with a 124. Bryan’s 116 on the last relay put him into a solid 2nd place. Zack Taylor was the victor in the end in our all 1000yd Creedmoor on Saturday. We had some very tricky conditions that his spotter, Eron Ahmer was able to see through to help Zack to the win. Only 6 points, out of a possible 450, separated 1st, 2nd and 3rd place going into Sunday’s midrange match for the aggregate.
Saturday evening everyone enjoyed a BBQ dinner, after we pulled the catering van and frantic delivery woman out of the bar ditch!

Sunday continued to be hot and competitors almost wanted a little more wind to cool us off at 300. The sun was pretty brutal and we were going through water fast. Jim Jones, Randy Ellingrod and Olian Shockley all put up 98’s at 300. Randy and Olian with 3, X’s and Jim Jones with 7, X’s! Then we moved back to the brutal 500yd target. Zack Taylor put up a big score despite some tricky conditions with a 90-1x. Eddie Hayes just behind him with an 87-1x. Robert managed the high score at 600 with a 90-2x, thanks to his spotter. It was not enough to catch up to Zack for the aggregate win. Of course we can’t forget the most important part of the winning team and give congratulations to Eron Ahmer for his excellent spotting over the course of the weekend!

A couple of other highlights were the showings by unclassified shooters Vern Fauss and Bob Garibay as new comers to the match. They put up excellent scores for their first time at the Rocky Mountain Regional. Thanks to Lee Kleidon for documenting the event in photos as well as his continued growing as a shooter. He is starting to climb up the scoreboard. We also had two Father/Son teams competing. Jeff and Arthur Williamson as well as Bob and Robert Garibay. A big thanks to Klaus as well for coming down on his own despite not having his normal shooting partner. Klaus has always been a big supporter of our matches and many others as a top shooter and an advocate of our sport.

Thanks as well to Eron Ahmer our Match Director who has created and run the Rocky Mountain Regional as well as the Money Match for the past 7 years. It has always been a very enjoyable and laid back match experience for all attendees. It is a match that you feel welcomed and helped out as a new shooter as well as providing the very toughest courses of fire available in our discipline for advanced shooters. Eron’s efforts and work to create such an enjoyable event for the past 7 years is greatly appreciated by all of us as competitors.

Thanks Robert. I wish I could have been there too.

I see that the usual suspects are all at the top part of the list :D

Yeah Chris, your absence took a lot of pressure off of the "usual suspects".
