Either fire formed 303 Brit brass or 30/40 Krag brass. The Krag probably has a bit more case capacity. The Remington brass did but I don't know about the Hornady brass that's available now. Trim to length after fire formimg.

Graf and sons has some Captech 30-40 Krag brass on sale.
I've bought both the Hornady and Graf brass to reform into 38-50 Hepburn.
The Graf stuff is PRIVI and was very consistent in weight.

Hope this helps,
Craig

Thank you all for your suggestions. I'll give them all a try and let you all know what seems to work best...
Gaads. I hope some company just would make 40-50 SS brass.

Re: Best 40-50 SS brass for Shiloh Sharps?
I've mentioned this before. but in my 40 70 SS, I have used them all, but I really like the 30 40 Craig because it has a lip on the rim which helps it slide easily over the breach to fully seat a tight ctg. The original ctgs. from the 1870/s had this rim bevel too.
It ejects easily and loads very well. I'm sure the 40- 50 would like them too.
good luck..Ken

Thank you all.
Just a question, I think I asked before, but was a bit unclear. Can I buy 40-70SS brass and just cut it down to size?

Re: Best 40-50 SS brass for Shiloh Sharps?
You could if there was a supply of 40/70 SS brass available. Alas, there is not a good affordable source. The Baco stretched brass is available but you would be much better off buying 303 brass. It's available and cheap
