Phoenix scores

This is where you can place your scores from the matches. It uses an excel spread sheet! If you send me your sheet of scores I can put it on the forum and provide a link where everyone can view it.

Phoenix is done. Congrats to Zack Taylor for the win in the 1000, and Klaus for the high scope in the 1000.

That's ok Don, it was a fun match and was great seeing everyone again. The best part was that I was able to give up my title of (Sub Jr. Shooter) to Lucinda at the awards ceremony (happy birthday) :D
The ghost winds on the 3rd day proved a challenge, most of us in the center were going 18 minutes one way and then 18 minutes the other way most of the time. I suffered a scope mount breakage on shot 6 and had to use Kentucky windage the remainder of the match. Lucinda had a internal failure on her scope and had to stop early, but she did great. Many thanks to Jimbo, Kenny and Pat for a great time.

Dennis that was some dang fine shooting to come out of that last day with that score in those winds using Kentucky windage. Well done.

Going to throw a couple of Kudo's here to the "twins" S Fogler, and Aviator. For never having shot together, and for Aviators very first time out in long range target, and Fogler having to fall back on his back up gun, you guys rocked.
For those that haven't shot long range and have been a bit anxious about trying it, let those two riflemen be your example. Get out there and give em hell.

Thanks for the kind words, Don.
As you said, this was my first time doing the Black Powder Target Rifle thing, and I had a great time!
Just started shooting black powder last October, and had not been able to prove my load beyond 400 yards before coming to Phoenix. After shooting about 400 45-70 rounds in the last week and a half, I know my rifle is pretty capable, there is room for improvement with my load, and lots of room for improvement with reading the wind! But I have some good basics to go on.
I was very pleased to be able to finish in the middle of the pack!
And, I was very pleased with the reception, help, and encouragement I received from those of you who have been doing it for awhile!
I am leaving Phoenix with some new friendships, and plan to be back next year!

Should give honorable mention to highest level of enthusiasm was a statistical tie between Steve Fogler and Steve Farringer (Aviator).

However, in the least amount of lead on paper and still scoring a 6 sub category the title goes to the Fogman hands down with about a third of the bullet making it to paper and a splinter of wood hardly the size of a toothpick launched into oblivion.

For bullet shattered up rights the ladies had light competition and the winner was awarded a shattered remnant up right at the ceremony.

Ten days of long range black powder target rifle shooting with the sole purpose of providing a fun and realistic long range match for the competitors.

About 400 rounds down range, a bunch of brass to clean and all the recoil therapy a competitor could enjoy.

A repeat is planned for 2020 in the same calendar time frame at the end of the annual Winter Range SASS shoot.

The wind was my friend. It can be yours also, but, you have to show up and shoot.

For an old fart Zack you did yourself proud. Good work.

You too could be there next year Kurt.
Interstate Highway System takes you within 100 yards of the range Kurt.
Bench shooting available for the really old pfhaerts.
You would fit right in. :D :D :D

Zack I intended on being there this year and I would have been if the dealership I got my new Gypsy wagon from would have got the needed warranty done in time before the weather turned. But just as well we didn't take off because Carols 96 year old Mom had a stroke. Couldn't have shot anyway.
I was keeping up with what you guys were doing.

Great to see you pop up on the forum Bruce. Hope all is well Down Under.

Let us all recall a very, very important fact concerning the Phoenix Matches in particular.
That is the Spotters that were so critically important to shooter success.
Jason Porter for Klauss and Chip Mate for Zack
Truly great work and patience displayed by both. 8)

Well, I certainly was glad to be there getting immersed in BPTR matches!

Not sure I can call stiff variable breezes my friend yet, but I certainly got some experience!
