Globe sight inserts

Post by X007 »

I have a wind-age adjustable globe front sight with bubble level on one of my rifles I picked up second hand recently. It came with only one sight card, a post, .058" width.
I am having trouble identifying the make of the sight.
The sight card thickness is .010", very thin slot for it as well.
the height is .510"
The width, under the ears is .450", (the I.D. of the actual sight globe is .450")
These are .050" smaller, I.D., than all my other similar front sight cards. The only markings on the sight is on the bottom of the dovetail base; marked with an "8"... (I removed it to see what I could find).
Can anyone guide me to the maker of this smaller I.D. globe sight, where I can buy different sight cards for it? It looks like all the ones on the market more or less.
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. The post it has is not the best to use for target work...

Thanks!

Can you post a picture of the sight?

Jim at Distant Thunder BPCR makes excellent inserts for a variety of front sights. You can customize all of the dimensions which is really nice. I actually use his inserts on nearly all of my rifles now.

Best I can get on pics. There is a #8 stamped on the base.

It looks like an MVA #112 I think.

I have that very MVA globe sight/level with wind-age adjustment on my Shiloh #1 40-70 SS. The I.D. of those MVA globes are .500", This one is .450" and MVA card inserts are too big. Also the slot is cut for a .010" thick insert. The knurled wind-age knob on this one is thinner than the MVA also. I have talked to several folks and no one can identify it. Tough one, with the smaller globe. Appreciate the ideas folks.

I'll bet that Jim at Distant Thunder BPCR could make you some inserts for it.

That is a Parts Unknown windage adjustable front sight. I have several of them for my rifles. Shoot straight, rdnck.

Forgot to add--what insert are you looking for? They don't come with a sight card, rather there is a small metal container that has extra inserts in it. Shoot straight, rdnck.

The sight at TOW is made by Pedersoli, NOT Parts Unknown. Not the same sight, not even close. Shoot straight, rdnck.
