Cheyenne Rifle and Pistol Club BPTRA Mid Range Match Results

Cheyenne Rifle and Pistol Club BPTRA Mid-Range Pos and Any Match Results
Sunday morning found pretty much the same weather conditions we had on Saturday with fewer clouds but a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Winds were very manageable from the West, North West. Fifteen shooters were ready to begin a day of shooting the Midrange Position and Any Match. Among the fifteen were the six competitors from Saturday’s .22 BPRC target match, Kenny Wasserburger, Steve Anderson, Jack Odor, Mark Pachares, John Madden and Brian Haffey. Joining them were Dean and Linda Scott, Greg, Nathan and Danny Tryon, all from Gillette, Wyoming. They are super folks and a very positive addition to the group. Also shooting today was Michael Rix, accomplished silhouette and target shooter who was on the USA World Black Powder World Team. Jeff Dierkse was a welcome addition as this was his only his second match and a chance to dust his beautiful Shiloh Sharps. Cody Smith who has won more awards than I have room on this page list was in attendance. The Match Director, me, was finally able to shoot the match also. This was going to be anyone’s day and everyone knew they needed to bring their “A” game. After a safety meeting and quick briefing on the targets and scoring we headed to the 200 yard line and the match began. The weather held and we moved to the 300 yard target line. Before we moved to 600 yard we had a 30 minute break for a bologna sandwich and chips lunch that also got us out of the low 80 degree heat for a bit and a chance to digest those great bologna sandwiches. We moved to the 600 yard line and a few dark clouds were on the West horizon. I was in the second relay at 600 so I didn’t really see the storm coming until I was done shooting but as soon as I saw the wall of rain coming down the valley from the West I called a rain delay and everyone scrambled to get stuff put up. Within five minutes the storm was on us and lasted for about 45 minutes. Figure we got about an inch of rain. The storm continued east and a tornado was on the ground about 20 miles east of us. It stopped raining and the last relay came to the line in full sunshine although the ground was pretty soggy. No one complained and we finished the match. After putting up the targets and we closed up the pit we had the awards ceremony. Many thanks to the following sponsors who graciously donated prizes for this and the other three matches over the summer. PLEASE, if you need supplies or such consider these folks before you buy from someone else. The not only talk the support talk they do the walk!!!

Dick, I appreciate the write-up and you having the biggest BPTRA match to date!
15 rifleman is a great number. It shows that we're growing and gaining more interest!
Big thanks to you, the competitors and sponsors you listed above. I'm planning on making it out for the October match, can't wait.
Just don't put me next to Cody in the pits after he eats a bunch of bologna sandwiches please.

Congratulations to Mark and Cody as well, great scores guys!

We had a great match, I got to shoot with Jack and Mike, so excellent spotting. Can’t thank Dick enough for putting on this match. BPTRA is growing and here to stay, September National Championship has 25 plus confirmed shooters, the naysayers better get on the ball. The range at Cheyenne is top notch, bunker style pits, good firing lines, ample parking and plenty of room for dry camping. Byers and Cheyenne will be BP target rifle Mecca before long I predict.

I shot Olde Eynsford 1.5 67.5 grs compression.380, using BACO bore wipes and M-pro 7, a 450 BACO money GG bullet with 2 reduced bands Dan Theodor White Lightening Lube. Federal 210 match primers, primer Wad inside the case. Bullet slip fitted bell remove with sizer die. LDPD .060 wad.

Wish I could have been there!

The results for John Madden and Brian Haffey seem to be invisible?

Great Match Dick! Fantastic facilities, great company, outstanding bologna sandwiches! What more could a shooter ask for??? I had a really good time. Kenny and Don have been telling me about this target rifle stuff for a while. Turns out it's pretty fun!

Seriously, put these matches on your list for shoots to attend. You won't be sorry.
take care, Cody

Poof... I’m there. And I was. Almost surprised to have stayed near the middle of the pack the way I was struggling at times.

But that’s what I earned and I had a darned good time while I was doing it.

Thanks Dick! Enjoyed every bit of it!
