Casting question

Post by RM »

I have some bullets I bought I'm not going to use, but want to melt them down for casting. The question is they have SPG lube on them and if I don't get it all off is there a danger of blowing the lead out of the pot or will it act as a fluxing agent?

I have some bullets like that.
I just melt a pot nearly full of ingot lead and throw in a few of the lubed duds for flux. I am gradually using them up. I dunno what would happen if you did a lot at once. Probably very smoky.
