Friendship July 2020

This is where you can place your scores from the matches. It uses an excel spread sheet! If you send me your sheet of scores I can put it on the forum and provide a link where everyone can view it.

Friendship July 2020

Post by Woody »

Wow, what a weekend! We avoided the rain, but couldn't avoid the heat and humidity. Our .22 match was held on Friday afternoon with 34 rifles on the line. 8 modern and 26 traditional rifles, with shooters from Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Georgia, and North Carolina present. With light switchy tail winds and 90 plus degree temps, it was difficult to keep hydrated, keep the sweat out of our eyes and stay focused. With that being said, 12 shooters managed to post master scores.

Willie Pool took modern rifle with a 34 followed by his spotter and better half Sandra Pool with a 29. Third modern was owned by Zack Gault with a 27.

Traditional rifles ruled the day and chickens must have been on sale!!!!

Marshal Chase set the new range standard with a monster 8 chickens and a 37 total , (Yes he took the chicken pool). Don Guthrie posted a strong 35 for second and Steve Hubbard came in with a 34 to take third.

Saturday dawned with 44 shooters assembled. Again hot, humid, and pesky tail winds. Lots of water to keep hydrated and several hours later, the results are as follows.

Sunday was a repeat of Saturdays temps and humidity. Same tricky tail winds.

If you didn't notice, Randy Franklin ruled the weekend with paper patched bullets. Hmmm. Oh well, there is always next weekend in Kentucky. See you there.

Don't forget, our NRA/NMLRA Regional is next month. Space is filling up, but still available. See you there too.

Like the Great Lakes Regional the weekend before, see a ratio of about 3:1 between scope & irons. Sign of the times............

We have a couple of 48" fans for our pits. They work pretty well to keep the conditions from becoming stifling in the heat. If nothing else they help a bit with evaporative cooling from one's sweat.

We did have a good time at Friendship last weekend!

But it did make me appreciate the low humidity I was in a couple weeks ago in Colorado and Wyoming!

Thanks for the posting, Woody. Good match but definitely warm! Enjoyed seeing all the folks there and look forward to seeing quite a few of them at our SE Regional in Nov... should be a lot cooler down here by then!
Congrats to Randy Franklin - looks like he had a really good spotter!!!
