OK, now I see what it is thanks to the link to Lyman. I had looked on-line and the smallest one shown was the 2500. I wonder how hard it is to clean the unit itself after a couple of batches of black powder case cleaning rounds? I've been a case "scrubber" for 55 years or more. Maybe it is time to modernize?

Just ordered the Lyman 2500 for $109.99, delivered. If it will do 100-125 40-65 cases in a lot I'll be good.
The only drawback I see is replacing the fluid. Does not appear that any of them has a drain. I'll get a cheapo siphon to drain and use a couple of paper towels to wipe out.

I use a Frankford Arsenal tumbler with a mix of SST pins and ceramic and drop a Cascade dishwasher pod in and it will shine brass.
These cases were out in the shed for many years in a 5 gallon bucket full of them.
You cant get cases much cleaner then this.

I'm still learning about all this Black Powder stuff..but I think Jeanne will always want one of these Turbo sonic case cleaners. This one is small enough we can pack it an use it back at the room after a match. These cases are not shiny...but look just like cases when they are brand new. Drying the cases will be the same when we are at Raton....lay them on a towel in the sun and a few hours later they are dry. Now I'm wondering about taking along a small toaster oven to dry cases in !! Kurt...does the tumbler you use with those make much noise? Those are certainly better looking than mine.

Yes Glenn...I have Goex Blackpowder and occasionally shoot it..we just prefer Pyrodex in our single shots. The cases don't seem to care and they all clean up the same...even old, ugly 38 , 357, 9mm and 45 c cases I have laying around came out of the sonic cleaner very clean.

Naw Glenn, cant hardly hear it run but I'm legally deaf from laying behind the M-60 to long with out ear plugs back in the 60's. The .45 ACP rounds would not stay in the ear. :D

Jeanne has went hunting with me a couple of times. She always asks why I can't hear half of what she says but I can hear a deer walking in the woods 100 yards away.
Thanks for working that m-60. You have a very good excuse for being partially deaf. My hearing is really going south these last few years also. I can't see as well and my 100 pound punching bag is winning more rounds these days than I do. Life is all about adjusting and rolling with it.

Glen,
I have the same as Kurt but, I dont have the ceramic just the pins and I cant hardly hear it downstairs when its running, it seems as some case sizes make more noise than other though. I use Frankfords tumble solution tho, its just easier for me as I do LOTS of other cases. I do know I can put 100, 45-100 cases in and its no problem, could do more just dont. Ive put over 1k, 223, 2k 9mm, 1k 10mm, 500, 7mmRM, 500, 308's all came out just like Kurt's. For the BP brass I just use water and pre-clean if you will, for 10 min, then dump the water, re-fill, add the solution and let it run for 90min.

Just a dash of vinegar should do the trick too, I just haven't played with it much as the Frankford solution has worked well, its cheap, its in a bottle and I know how much too use......

I'll probably get one for me. When I buy something involved with shooting I usually buy two...because Jeanne shoots , cleans and loads with me. The only thing she will not do is cast bullets.
The larger one is probably the way I'll go.Now if we all have matches to shoot this summer I'll be very happy.

For Kurt....
Does the Frankford unit have a drive similar to the old RCBS Sidewinder unit? I went through two of those and now a Dillon vibratory type has died on me. One of the two horizontal shafts that the drum rides on is also a “shaft” with knurled rollers. Those two rollers “bite” into a corresponding large diameter “wheel” on the drum body. That frictional gripping ability between the drum and knurled rollers eventually erodes away.

I’m in the market for a rotary type tumbler. I wrote the Thumler’s Tumbler website asking for a price but no answer.

Thanks!

I've been using an ultrasonic cleaner for quite a few years. First run is with water, a squirt of dish soap, and a slop of vinegar. The soap is to get the oil and bullet lube off the cases, and the vinegar makes me feel better about getting off alkaline fouling. Subsequent 2 runs are with water, then dry. Every few years, it is necessary to scrape the primer pockets, when they get too shallow for pistol primers. IMHO, abrasive methods can only damage the brass. I don't need the cases to be shiny, only clean. Each cartridge case must have 60-70 shots out of it, and all are in good shape.
