Conclusive Evidence
Is there any “real” evidence that using a digital powder scale can give inaccurate readings when used under fluorescent lighting or LED lighting?
Or is this just another interweb myth started by ignorant observations?

Use a good beam scale and check it out.

I've used both, but the digital is much easier to use. I use a trickler , set the main powder charger to slightly less than the weight. 59.8 for example, then trickle to 60.0. or whatever.
drop tube and you're done.

Until I wrapped the power supply cord to mine around a pretty strong magnet. I would get lots of 'error' readings. The magnet removed the RFI in the power supply.

My RCBS chargemaster has some quirks until it warms up and gets stabilized at around 60f in my shop when heat is turned down for the night.

I use a balance scale for measuring powder. The electronic scale is for my bullets.
I have found that electronic scales can drift off of zero.
It is more pronounced in some brands than in others.
The fluorescent lighting above my bench maybe could be interfering with the scale.
I never thought of that.
Keep on hav'n fun!

Re: Conclusive Evidence
I'm with you, MikeT. I balance beam all my powder charges and e-scale all my bullets. I do not have a fluorescent light in the house anymore so everything seems to work well.
The system, very simple, that I use to balance beam my powder adds no more than maybe a few seconds to each load time wise and I like knowing that at least the things I can control are controlled.
The ammo I load may not be the most accurate, but it is very consistent! And consistency counts!

I've been using digital scales for 12 years, fluorescent lights all around, never had a problem.

The couple I had didn't work for beans, went back to a mechanical scale. Fluorescent lights all around, close to large power lines, I have a couple of witch doctor neighbors....who knows, but my balance beam and Harrell's always work.

Re: Conclusive Evidence
I gave up my balance beam for digital 20 plus years ago. Have not had an issue. I replaced the lights in my garage, (loading area) many years ago with LED. I do have the power supply cord wrapped around a magnet, but can't tell that it makes a difference. Don't miss the flickering florescent lights or the frequent replacement.

Re: Conclusive Evidence
Nothing conclusive but what I have found works for me. If you do decide to go digital, get two. One will fail at the most inopportune time.
