Question on the .40-90 for Kirk and others
I own a #1 in .45-70 which lI ove dearly. Trouble is, I want another Shiloh and am considering some of the other chamberings. I'd use this gun for hunting deer and elk. How would the .40-90 do for this purpose?

Good morning, just returned from the SHOT show, didn't forget you. I have never messed with a 40-90 straight, but have talked to a lot of shooters that have. I am sure a guy could make it work with proper loading, as far as my thoughts go, I would look into a 40-70 ss. For a lot of years it was said that none of the bottle necks would shoot, now that people have learned how to load they are working real well, this is why I am sure the 40-90 ss might not be that big of a bear to tame. Just my thoughts. Thanks Kirk
