Re: Confession
Heck to don't take a special sleek bullet design to make a PP bullet shoot straight.
The full wad cutter shoots good in my .38 Gold cup and the 52 S&W master why not try then on the .44 cal rifle

Use bigger targets, it makes the groups look small.

Re: Confession
In the 1840s Captain Tamisier in France found that the addition of grooves increased accuracy. He experimented with means of stabilising elongated bullets and keeping the bullet's axis in line with its trajectory. He tried shifting the centre of gravity forward, but that made the front part too round increasing resistance. He then sought to increase resistance in the hind part whenever its axis did not coincide with the direction of its motion. Grooves were cut in the bullet and experiments found they needed to be as sharp as possible. The grooves have something of the effect of the feathers on an arrow, and the action of the air upon them tends to keep the bullet from varying from its line of direction. (Summarised from report of L.Panot, Paris, 1851 - reprinted in 'Small Arms 1856' (published by Dean Thomas 1984)).semtav wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 3:09 pm I remember when I was first toying with the idea of switching to PP, the theory was bantered around that the grooves have a stabilizing affect on the bullet and PP bullets wouldn't be as stable. No idea if it was actually true. I've seen some pretty good PP results.

Re: Confession
Hmmm, will this start a new trend, patched grooved bullets without the gooeyness? Thanks for rocking the boat Semtav!

Re: Confession
There is a lot of little secrets out there that some shooters do not share with everyone else. I can understand why, they are your competition, especially if it is one of the locals that you shoot with every match. I told a shooter at our range his load sucked he needed to start over, he did, and came back with a load that shoots great. Now he is very hard to beat. I believe in helping other shooters do their best so I'm going to share the results of some load testing, after all it is the giving season. I no longer use tin in my alloy, crush two Viagra pills and mix with 10 lbs. of lead.
Normal isn't coming back, but Jesus is.

I'm thinking if this thing is consistent at 200 yds, might get my die grinder out, knock the top two grooves off and try it at long range.
