Lew Owen

Post by SBR4590 »

I own a LR express in 45-110, formerly owned by Lew Owen. He was a competitor in the 1997 LR international in SA. He shot with Dave Gullo and other notable LR shooters at the time. I'm trying to find out if Lew used this rifle at that competition. If anyone knows Lew and can ask him about it, I'd be grateful.
Thanks. Frank.

If you dont get a response here, you can usually call buffalo arms and talk with Dave. Or leave a message, he's pretty good at getting back to people.

Thanks Matt,
I sent an email to BACO asking Dave if he knows about the rifle. It would be a hoot if Lew did use it at that match. In any case, I like the rifle and still shoot it on occasion. It's a heavy piece of iron.

Frank,
I've attached a photo and tried to get a closeup of Lew and a rifle he was using in 1998. This photo was taken in 1998 at Connaught range outside of Ottawa, Ontario during their Nationals. This is a team photo of a Canada versus USA match. These are the US shooters and a couple extras.
From the photo it appears he was using a Sharps. I don't remember the caliber but I do remember he would use paper patch bullets. This photo hangs over my desk.

For some reason I'm not allowed to open the attachment. I'll contact Shiloh to remedy. In any case. I acquired this rifle a year after the 1997 SA international. The quest continues.
Thanks. Frank.

I acquired the rifle in late 1998. He must have put it up for sale just after this match.
Thanks again. Frank.
