I used a old wore out Lyman Minie Ball mold which was .580. I Squared off base plug after boring through.The wider diameter prevents tipping and gives a nice flat spot for plunger contact. I would think a .500 dia. cylinder would work nicely also. It the nice clean squared ends that matter and enough mass for consistent readings.

Kim that sounds like a great idea to insure consistancy of testing. Wonder what bullet mold the op is using? Bobw
