22BPCRA National Championship New Information
The 22BPCRA National Championship is celebrating a few milestones in 2023.
1. This is our 11th National Championship!
2. The .22 BPCR sport as we know it now, is celebrating its 20th year being shot at the Whittington Center using metal "knock-down" targets. Prior to that time the match was shot using "swinger-only targets" near the Coors' range.
3. The great covered firing line on the Long-range pistol range at the Whittington Center was funded by the silhouette .22 BPCR & Lever Action shooters! Funds raised by both groups were donated to the WC leadership with the intention of covering the firing line. In 2006 the project of covering the shooting line was completed! No more laying in the open, which comes in real handy for protection from the hot sun and the afternoon rain storms!
4. Also, new for this year is the Association is raffling off a super nice rifle!! If you would like to try and win a Winchester 1885 Low Wall High Grade (only 1100 of them made and yes it has the cute gold animals on it) 22 Long Rifle complete with MVA sights…. you’ll get your chance at the match. Tickets will be sold for $10 each, 6 for $50 or 12 for $100 and the winner will be drawn during our awards ceremony/dinner. A maximum of 500 tickets may be sold and we will limit folks to a max of 12 tickets per person. The winner must be present to take the rifle home…or we draw another name.
Entries are filling quickly with 1/8 of the slots taken. The International Showdown BPCR match (THE real National Championship as voted on by competitor participation) is at 1/6th filled so don’t delay. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email me or any of the Directors as our email addresses are posted on the 22BPCRA webpage.
Thank you and look forward to seeing you in July in sunny New Mexico!

What is the association planning to do with the money earned from the raffle?

Offset the cost of prizes and pay for the rifle.

Understand the raffle/drawing approach: Don't know about the rest of the matches around the country, BUT, Trophy/Award/Prize Type articles are up dramatically in cost as well as availability here in Arizona, where it is a dry heat.

We shall see which turns out to be the REAL national championship by attendance. With a little luck we could be in triple digits at Friendship. Stay tuned.

Re: 22BPCRA National Championship New Information
Hi John. Last years numbers said it all…73 vs 28. Pretty hard to hit triple digits for NRA as they’re capped at 90 according to the entry form. Either way both matches will be fun and hopefully well attended. You might even see me east of here.

It would be good to see you shoot some in the East. I haven't seen you since our shootout in GA several years ago. There were 7 Texans at the SE regional last fall. You should have been there.

Re: 22BPCRA National Championship New Information
Kenny - What matches are you comparing? Was there a BPCR nationals last year that I missed?
Also, where did you find a the 2023 entry form for the 2023 BPCR nationals? With 8 banks of animals the limit should be 128 with four relays.
And, had hoped we were past the "mine's bigger than yours" silliness. Hopefully, we will have great matches regardless of where and when.

Be sure and join the NMLRA so you can get a camping spot for the NRA nationals. If you make a reservation and are not a member it will be cancelled. This is per the Cline range web site. It's only $50.

Re: 22BPCRA National Championship New Information
35 brave souls shot in the NRA BPCR national Championships last year at the Whittington Center according to the NRA , at least that's what they have listed for the two gun aggregate, however, the numbers for irons, 24 and scope, 30, don't add up. The results are posted on the NRA competitors web site. I know because I was there. I was so strongly supporting this match that when my rifle broke I actually bought another rifle, made my ammo fit and shot terrible, but I attended. Irons had the top 3, 3 Masters, 9 AAA, 4 AA and 5 A shooters, (24 total). Scope had top three, 10 Masters, 9 AAA, 6 AA and 2 A (30 total). It did happen. Won't be attending this year. Have fun.
