32/40 Shiloh
Recently found a Shiloh in 32/40. Odd caliber for a Sharps but unique and fun to shoot. Wondering how common/rare/special order this caliber is. Serial is four digits in the low 8K range. Barrel is marked correctly with Ol Reliable and Caliber. Gun is heavy with the small bore in a normal barrel. Will be a good one for the grandkids to use, off a bench/sticks, due to no recoil.

Re: 32/40 Shiloh
The 32-40 has been a option since the Big Timber operation began, it makes sense to me to offer as a option. It was the small bore champ for many years and lots rifles were chambered for it, 32 Special replaced it in Winchesters line up. Not to waste anything they used up the remaining 32-40 barrels by heat treating for simply smokeless powder and necking up the 30-30 Win. to .32 cal. . Should prove to be a very accurate rifle at 200M.
Nice find.
Nice find.

I have quite a few catalogs and the old newspaper magazine that started in 1985. Adds list calibers but can’t find 32/40. No matter, it’s a fun gun and easy to load for. Will try to post from computer. Photo is too large for iPad
