74 shiloh no barrel markings
Looked at a 74 MR today it had no caliber marking or Shiloh on top the barrel, no rear sight dovetail or screw hole the barrel was polished. The bottom flat under the forend was marked RWS 17 00 with no other markings. It appears to be chambered for the 40-70-2.5" ss. Using an original wra cartridge the rim dia was larger than the rim cut on the barrel. The tail stock says 2.523" at that point it hit.me that it must have been rebarreled. Anybody ever seen a bottom barrel marking like RWS 17 00 ? Bobw

Re: 74 shiloh no barrel markings
Bob is there any chance that it's an RKS?
I have a Shiloh with an RKS ( Ron Smith ) bull barrel on it, chambered with a Dan Theodore 45-2.6" chamber.
Mine is marked RKS 10 ( for 2010 ).
It also might be a Ron Snover barrel but thats a guess
Chris.

Bob I did a bunch of looking around with no luck. If I had to guess it's a Ron Snover barrel. I am sure I talked with someone that knew how his barrels were marked, but I can't remember who.
