Question On What Model

Post by Augie »

Picking up a used Shiloh in 45/70. Not sure what model it is as it appears to have quite a few options including some engraving. I'm thinking it is a Long Range Express but not sure. Hope someone may know for sure. Thank you.

Very nice looking rifle! Does look like an LRE with a mid range sight on it. Maybe the previous owner was using it for silhouette? Very nice wood too!

If the barrel is 34" then it's an LRE anything less and it's a Sporter #1 as that is the difference between the two.

Beautiful gun, congratulations.

That makes sense Paul, thank you and thank you all for the input.

I had a LRE that I ordered new in the late 80's early 90's, I sold it to my brother and I've been looking for a replacement.

Custom order #1 sporting rifle. The extras are the pewder tip, half octagon, carven grip cap. Lawance buck horn sight, extra fancy wood and AAA finish, engravings, polished blue bone case hardening. What serial range?

Thank you for the information on the options James, much appreciated. The rifle appears to be unfired.

I don't have a clear picture of serial number but looks like 31xxB. I should be picking it up next week.
