A tale of 2 cities.

Has anyone else noticed the similarities between two recent threads and William Shakespeare's Tale of Two Cities.

In one city the citizen asks, " HOW do you make an accurate assessment of two different factors"

In the other city the citizen asks " what is the difference between factor A and factor B.

How different the answers.

In the first city the citizens are told to get off the computer and just go shoot what they have, lots and lots and it will make no difference.

In the second city it's gonna take the city elders many meeting at special meeting places to make the determination.

I do think old Bill was on to something

Now, just to clear my name, I said to use a bullet that is known to be successful, not just whatever bullet you have laying around.

I wasn't picking on you colt. In fact you might have the right answer.
I was just noting the different directions the threads took.

I was asking, in general how do you make that determination of A vs B.

Whether it's money vs elliptical, paper vs grease, Shiloh vs Winchester ,etc

Does just taking the top 2 or 3 shooters of matches give you a good answer. Or do you have to take the average of all the shooters, or do you have to do as the other threads proports, and go test them extensively yourself, or as you say it's the one that practices the most and that's the key.

I did test both bullets at the same time. There was only one grain of powder difference between the 2 loads. They were shot out to the ram line. Both loads were shooting 1 moa. The money bullet took 3 min. less elevation, that was enough for me to make my decision. You could do the same test at longer distance. The elliptical weighed 413 grs. the money weighed 406 grs. Calm conditions. Both were PP loads. Maybe the 6 gr. difference had to do with the elevation difference, I don't know.

It's really not all that complicated. All the different profiles have their claim to fame, and their believers.
Test as many as you want, or just pick one. Try them at the furthest distance you intend to shoot , and when you've settled on a load that you think you , the rifle and the target can live with and have confidence in go with it..

With all rifles being different and every chamber varying dons advice is probably sound.
