Websters: Mold - growth of minute fungi on vegetable or animal matter.

Websters: Mould - a hollow form for giving a particular shape to something in a molten state.

In America, both are used to describe a bullet mould/mold. However, using mould more precisely define the article and the purpose thereof.

a bullet mold

Perhaps you were looking in a British version of a dictionary?
