ALERT, ALERT, ALERT, Date change for Desert International

Post by desert deuce »

They asked for it and they got it.

At the request of the competitors that "attended" the 2023 & 2024 Desert International Long Range Black Powder Target Rifle Event a change of dates was requested from the approved dates of JAN-FEB 2025 to April 1-8. 2025. Due to the request the question was put to those competitors and the majority voted in favor of the April 1-8, 2025, dates. April 1-8, 2025, has been approved and accepted by Ben Avery Shooting Facility and those are the dates that AZWINS will sponsor the DI at Ben Avery. Match Bulletin and Entry Forms to follow in this site.

I posted a screenshot of this on Kenny’s rifle match Facebook page. Hoped the word will get out and participation will increase. I heard that there might even be some landfill-shootin guys next year.

Well, along those lines? Talk is cheap. Action and participation is the Gold Standard. Calling out Ohio, New Jersey, New York, N & S Carolina, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Mississippi (guess they are waiting around for Ol' Miss to win a football game), Louisiana, Alabama, TEXAS! The rest of you know who you are. :P

Looking back over past competitor lists I don't see several states represented and a few foreign countries missing. And, as everyone should know, we make special provision for muzzle loaders and foreign competitors, plus those signing up for the 7 day Ironman have first preference, HOWEVER, this time we will be recording post marks for first come first squadded on the entry letters and those 36 slots might just fill up fast. :D

What were the circumstances? Anything to be learned from it? Years ago I remember a story of rifles being stolen from shooters' vehicles at a motel. I don't recall where.

Same basic story. Smash and grab through a truck window in a motel parking lot.

To my mind, an out of state truck is an easy target in a motel lot. Really, any rig is. The cops apparently spent some time with the guys too. Pretty sad situation.

Hey, you left out us Northern Nevadans.
That's great to here! I'll be talking to Jeff tomorrow about making plans to attend.
Thanks,

Well CO, guess Mr's Hurst and Gazaway are keeping it a secret. But, they followed instructions and sent me their emails, I sent them the entry materials, they filled them out, sent them back and showed and shot February 2024.
