I've just acquired a new to me rifle that sadly was not well cared for by a previous owner. The rifle cleaned up fairly well with the exception of the hammer. It must of had some rust on it at one point and the wingnut rubbed it so hard with I assume steel wool that he removed the case hardening. I spoke to Ona at Shiloh and she suggested that I email/send picture to Lucinda and she could provide some options. I guess before I waste her time, my question is. Does anyone have any knowledge of whether Shiloh will re caseharden a hammer or will I have to live with it?
Thanks

Re: recasehardening a hammer
Just received my hammer back from Shiloh today. Just wanted to take a minute to thank Mr. Bryan and his staff for an incredible job on straightening out my messed up hammer. It won't make the rifle shoot better but I'll certainly look better when I miss.
Thank you again.
Thank you again.

Re: recasehardening a hammer
Their support is outstanding. On the last relay of the iron sight silhouette match at Raton I felt that my lever spring was losing tension and the lever hung down a bit. I knew that the lever spring was about to give up. I had a spare but didn't replace it until I got home. I called Shiloh to order another one and she asked if I was the original owner of the rifle. I said yes and provided the serial number to her. She said it was covered by warranty. I told her it was the 2nd one to break and that I had already gotten one on warranty. She said it didn't matter and sent me another one. I got it this week and it is in my box of spares now. That's the kind of service you don't expect these days from any manufacturer. Thanks, Shiloh!

That's the way it's supposed to work. A warranty is a warranty, whether it's one part or the same part ten times.
