Original sharps parts?

Do you have parts that will fit and original sharps? I picked up a 50-70 carbine recently and the firing pin is dodgy.

If you are going to be shooting this, you are better off to put a new breech block with two-piece firing pin in. What you got now will eventually break with today's primers, especially if you forget to half cock between shots. To replace that piece, you will have to have one made from scratch.
A new block will have to be ground to fit, because the breech mortise on the originals varies in size through the years. Also, the link will more than likely need changed in order to strike center.

Try Lodgewood Mfg and S&S Firearms, either may have an original firing pin. Lacking that, a new tip can be put into the old firing pin. But, if it works as it is just keep using it. I've fired hundreds of rounds through my original 50-70 conversion carbine without any issues.

Thanks Kirk, I’ll certainly consider that down the road a bit.

George, it’s shooting fine and mashes the primers quite nicely, i am going to take the firing pin out and radius the edge a little.

This group was fired at 50 yards with 60 grains of 1f. It’s shooting about 14” high at 50.

One of the things I did was to make a higher front sight. That will bring the point of impact down to a readonable lever. Just about all these old carbines will shoot anywhere from one to two feet high. I've recently started using the 350 grain Lyman 515139 bullet to lighten the recoil a bit. I've had excellent results using 60 grains of Fg; CCI 250 primer; and a 0.06 vegi fiber Walters wad. If I could figure out how to put a picture on, I'd post my last target.
