40-70 and Thief

Post by Yellowhouse »

Anyone recall a story where in Arizona, I think, a thief tried to hightail it out of town and was brought down by a Sharps 40-70?

There was a write up about it in the black powder cartridge news a couple years ago.
The guy was a storekeeper and he just came out and they were headed away so he just dropped them. There was a picture of the rifle in the article and the artical was about the owner of the rifle.

That was it! I bet it wasn't pretty either. I've blown up big green watermelons with mine. You'd think they were hit by a grenade.

Look at the old photos of laid out bad guys. The holes going in are very obvious on the skin and they don’t show the exits very much. Like all wounds, depends on what’s hit inside what the exit looks like.
