Post by jackz »

I have been peeking in on this forum for a year but I just saw this and felt that it was a must to pass on to you. This list is VERY scary!!
At least this time they aren't hiding their agenda.

Please note that this is dated March 14, 2005!!

If this has already been posted, I apologize for the duplication.

They have no intention of getting all those on the list passed. It's the same old thing with them.

Just a couple will do for now. The next time a couple of more, the next, next, next. That is how they work. -------- Jerry

I am not necessarily sure that the new bankruptcy law is so bad.

Maybe it will teach people to be aware of their financial situation & how they save & spend their money.

Of course if you’re a 'conspicuous consumer', who lives beyond, or well beyond your means & were planning on filing bankruptcy, then this new law would or could crimp your 'life style'. But whose fault is that?

Another thing to consider, when companies loose money, who do you think pays for it--the paying public who the purchases goods & services. Just like w/ fraudulent insurance claims-- the rate payers will see the cost in increased rates, not the company….

Gun Ban!

AMEN!!

If people are stupid enough (to try) to live well beyond their means.....their arses need to be nailed to the wall! The previous bankruptcy laws have been entirely to lenient and have been nothing but an aid to those whom are derelict in their duties of payback! Most have had NO INTENTIONS of honoring their duties and in my opinion it's nothing but a reflection of modern day America which says...."Screw you....and all for me"!!

Good riddance!!

I think that you must also be cognizant of the fact that 2006 is an election year. What better way to gain support, improve your chances of being elected/re-elected than supporting such legislation?

Often times political parties will let elected officials introduce legislation or allow them vote yea or nay so as the voting member will not loose his/her seat. A great deal depends upon the voting members’ strength among the constituents & if the proposed legislation has any chance of being enacted into law or if there are enough votes to override a veto.

As for the items on the list, described by one poster as “…VERY scary’, my reading is that the law will not apply to those firearms .

Now this is not to say that this isn’t something to watch.

Once again, the public has the power to vote the scoundrels out. I think for those of you who talk of the militias, impeachment, etc., you’re dreaming….

As I previously posted:

“I think the biggest problem dealing w/ the anti-firearms crowd is that the gun owners are letting them keep marching along towards fullfilling their ultimate agenda:

“How many of you know Shooters who don’t belong to the NRA &/or their State rifle & pistol associations? I bet if the truth be known, a good number of posters on this board fall into that category.

“How many of you know Shooters who don’t contribute financially to the various pro-firearms groups?

”How many of you know Shooters who don’t vote solely because they don’t want to be called for or a serve on a jury?

“How many of you know Shooters who will not even bother to make a phone call or write a letter protesting anti-firearms legislation?

“How many of you know Shooters who vote for anti-firearms local, State, & Federal representatives, Senators, etc., solely because their union tells them that “they are good for the union “?

“For a good many years, I spent just about all day on Fridays & Saturdays @ my local dealers & often helped him out after hours.
From my observation over a period of ‘bout 15-18 yeras, I will say that probably @ least 65% of Shooters fall into @ least one of the above.

“If the Shooters of this country acted together & became politically active, we wouldn’t have all of these (or a great deal less) anti-firearms legislation.

No the old laws on bankruptsy were not lax as you had to prove yourself in court before a Judge to go into Bankruptsy ! What is going on in this country is that people are not living above their means just trying to live and get buy ! If you or a member of you familly gets seriously sick for long term you will have bill coming out of your ears ! Health insurance doesn't cover much these days ! If the company you work for closes and moves to China and you are 38+ years old where do you get another job from ? They the Card companies are charging people 50% and up interest on credit card users ! One Congressman wanted to put a cap of only letting the card companies charge 75% and no more ! This has been on the news all week ! It is Economic Slavery ! You will never get out of Debt , and this law does not apply to big corperations just we the people ! JAGG

“No the old laws on bankruptsy were not lax as you had to prove yourself in court before a Judge to go into Bankruptsy.”

Huh? Then how come I know of 6-7 people who have filed & were granted personal bankruptcy more than once? One guy I’m pretty sure went for 3 times.

“They the Card companies are charging people 50% and up interest on credit card users ! One Congressman wanted to put a cap of only letting the card companies charge 75% and no more ! This has been on the news all week !”

Since when do YOU believe the news reports? Only when it fits your preconceptions?

Just who are these “Card Companies” who are charging 50% & plus interest?

Does anyone know? Let's "out them".

Just who is this Congressman who wanted to put a 75% cap?

You are starting sound like a few people that I know--they have nothing & never will have nothing & believe whatever the democrats &/or the TV news 7 talking heads tell them. Or are you reading from a DNC script? It sounds awfully familiar & as w/ most political rhetoric short on any specifics.

As far as people living beyond their means, there are a one 'helluva' lot that fall into that category. I have two very good friends who are realtors as well as mortgage brokers. From what they've told me, it is not uncommon for 1st time home owners to have a US$15,000.00 credit cars debt! Fifteen thousand--huh?

Reminds me of a guy I worked w/. At age 50 plus, he & wife decided to buy a condo. To qualify for the loan, they needed to pay off their credit card debts--a mere US$45,000.00! The only reasons that they qualified was that the inherited about $100,000, which they used to pay off the credit cards & a minimum down payment. Three years later, he took out a home equity loan to pay a off a few credit cards totaling almost $25,000.00. Doesn't have hardly any money in the bank, but sure has a number of bills.

As far as getting in debt due to medical emergencies, does anyone know exactly how many people/ families it is?

I've never heard the exact number or percentage of the total. Does anyone know? Or is there a reason--maybe political--for talking about this in vague terms....

I think a great deal of this is nothing but class warfare, a way to gain votes, spread social & economic discontent, etc.

I know a guy that was going through a divorce that went out for months and bought large expensive items on credit cards then sold them off and hid the cash and still made small payments on the cards to keep the open. This same guy went to Nevada Casinos and used credit cards to get large amounts of chips to gamble with but turned right around and cashed in the chips for cash and hid it all away. Also being as his record was showing he was buying large amount of chips at the clubs and they thought he was gambling in the clubs the clubs were giving him rooms and meals for free. After going as far as he could on getting a large amount of cash stached away he filed bankruptcy. He now lives in a big new home and is driving a new Jag sedan and has a good state job. As Ray said we are paying for him.
