Hello all,
I have just bought a 1874 Sharps repro, sorry to say it is not a Shiloh but I have started a fund so that is next on the list if I can ever decide which model. I have reloaded smokeless powder for pistols and a .375 H&H but what do I need to get started loading black powder for a .45-70? I have only had the gun a week but this could be addicting.

Go to this web site and get The Book. http://www.the45-70book.com/ It is oriented to the model 1873 Springfield rifle and Carbine, commonly referred to as "Trapdoors", but the book is applicable to any blackpowder shooting discipline.
Also go to the books section of the Shiloh site here and get the primer on black powder by Steve Garbe. It may be a tad dated, but it is still very useful for getting started.
Then go back throught archieves of this site and read a lot. There are a lot of very knowledgable and expert people on this site (I am not one of them) and they are very generous with their knowledge and answers to questions.
