Re: 40/50 BN
Finished my double cavity mold today. The bullet weighs in at 282 grains. Next I need to make a paper patch template, and a follower.

Stephen;
It looks like you're going to have some fun this year. What are the specs for the rifle? Looks to be a #3 with shotgun butt. The bullets look good too.

Thanks Pete. Yes it's a #3 Sporter, 26" standard weight barrel, 12 3/4" pull. Just a plane jane rifle for the kids and momma.

Re: 40/50 BN
Nothing 'plane jane' about a Shiloh... but I hear what you're saying. Very nice piece of gear and will be interested to see how it performs in the field. Keep us posted Stephen. Well done.

Re: 40/50 BN
Thanks Gavin, I will keep you posted on it's hunting capabilities.
Bob, your right, it's got a chamber designed like the original
Sharps 40/50BN. I bought a 40/50 ST and 40/50BN from the Frank Sellers collection and sent them to Orville for a reamer design. I use 45-70. brass and RCBS .403 die set to size the cases. I hope to have some rounds loaded tonight. I need to build a pp template, bullet marker, and follower yet. Momma and the boys are gone so I have my machine to myself for the next couple days. I will post some pics tonight when I'm done.
Thanks

Re: 40/50 BN
Stephen, will that die set get the necks small enuf to chamber easily? If not load some up till it's bullet seating next, but size the neck to the limit with a 40 SW tungsten carbide sizer then seat the bullet. Sometime with the dies available it's hard to get what you need for the ist time fireforming as you prolly know. Deans' shoots great so I'm sure yours will too. best of luck. bobw

Re: 40/50 BN
Bob the cases size down just fine. I had to machine the expansion die down to
.398 from .403. They load up nicely. When I get off work tomorrow I'm going to shoot what I have loaded.
Thanks
