Hi Guys,
Anyone know the nipple size for the 1863 Shiloh's? I thought it was 5/16 x 28 but I have seen 1/4 x 24 musket cap nipple mentioned as well.

Re: Nipple thread size
Rob,
I just measured the nipple in my old Farmingdale Shiloh. In a Brownell's Thread Checker gauge it fits snugly in a 5/16 - 24 hole. A separate thread gauge definitely measures 24 threads to the inch. I tried a repro 5/16 - 24 musket nipple in the breech block and it fits fine.

Thanks Barry,
That's what I thought it was but I saw on this forum someone stating a different size.
Thanks again,
Rob
