Would the recoil on a 16lb 30" #1 Sporter in 50-90 be an issue with a full length scope?

John,
I have one on mine and recoil is not an issue. The scope slides forward on recoil. Just have to remember to slide it back for the next shot.

Here is my issue with the MVA scope on my .50-2.5. My scope is the 28" but regardless this might also affect the full length scope. After less then ten shots fired I have to re adjust my cross hairs because the torque twists the reticle. It ends up a X instead of a cross +. MVA replaced the reticle barrel once and replaced the screws several times, it will not stay in place.

Well Kurt if you shot a true big 50 in stead of a poor mans version of a 500 nitro you probably wouldn't have those problems.
As for scopes on original sharps there just one in an auction in Texas I think it was a 16 lber 45 2 7/8 or 44 2 5/8, 28 inch barrel full length malclom scope on it.

I love my 50, hell I would sleep with it if I was single :) BTW I want to get a 16lb 30" #1 in, you guess it, a poor mans nitro. BTW is the full length MVA only for the 34" crowd? They don't list one for the thirty inch guns.

if you tell them the barrel length they will make the tube to fit the barrel

Kurt my frist sharps was a 50 3 1/4 with a 1-20 twist in a 9 lb gun 680 grain pp bullet from a mould I made. :D Shot though two buffalo with one shot. The barrel pulled loose from the receiver so it sets in the safe, it was made by AMT. Now if you want to shoot a real 500 nitro stop by and we will see how fast you can get two shots off 570 grain jacketed bullet at 2100 fps.

I have a full length MVA scope on my 30" bull #1- 45/110 sporter.Scope is 36" long and is dovetail mounted.Call MVA and talk to Jimmy,He will fix you up.I swap the scope off on a Browning BPCR 40/65 and a Shiloh 40/65.Works great on all the rifles. No problems after 5000 plus rounds,Get one and enjoy,Bob.

March41 when you say dovetail mounted are you using blocks in the dovetails, or are your mounts cut with dovetails so the mounts go directly into the dovetails like mine?

I am using dovetail blocks, and the std mounts that come with the scope. The scope would look better a bit closer to the barrel, but I shoot several time a week and like to remove scope when cleaning rifle. How easy is it to remove the scope the way you are mounting it without loseing the adjustments.Ill PM my email if you could send me some of your rifle.Thanks,Bob.

:D Orville. There was a Doctor at the range about 30 some years ago with a .577. Sure was a pretty thing with a gold inlayed Rhino and other fine engravings he was going after the Rhino, Elephant, and Hippo. He went to the 100 yard line and put up a 4x4 foot plywood board with a big black dot on it. He shot that double barreled rifle twice and kicked up dust all over the back stop not hitting the 4x4. He flipped the rear sights up and down and shot again not hitting the board.
I was standing behind him watching and I said the first two went left and over and the last two went high and low. He asked you wand to try this?? sure I said. Well the first two shots where side by side about 8" and he handed me two more rounds and they hit about 4" apart. I handed him the rifle back and said sure is a pretty rifle but I don't care for a double barreled shotgun and that goes for a rifle also, but it sure is pretty.
I don't know why anyone wants a beast like that.

Kurt

Why did you shoot two buff's?????????
