I've ordered a shiloh in 45-90 and want to know if a RCBS rockchucker will reload these cartridges or do you need the newer bigger model? :?:

I reloaded the 45-100 in mine with no problems at all. Currently loading the 40-90 & others.

I reload .45/90 and .50/90 on my Lyman T-Mag II turret press, so I would bet your Rock Chucker is plenty big enough and definitely strong enough.

Troll,

I use a rock chucker exclusively, this includes 45/90. Just have to remember to be carefull when running a round through when bullet seating.

Troll - The Rock Chucker has no problem with the 2.4" case, but once you go to 2.5" or greater you can have a problem. The opening is only 3¾" above the mounted shellholder. A 2.4" case (45-90) with a 1.4" bullet (540 PJ Creedmoor) is no problem. Go to 2.5" (the 40-70 SS or 50-90 SS) or 2.6" (45-100) and you can do the math. I've pinched my fingers far more than I care to remember in my Rock Chucker. I would suggest you purchase the larger version simply for the convienance and possible future needs. - Nick

The new Rockchucker Classic handles somewhat longer cases than the original. The measurement from the base of the cartridge to the bottom of the upper web on mine is ~4.165". It will easily take a .45-90 case with 540 gr. Creedmoor bullet ready to seat without requiring you to tilt the case and start the bullet into the seating die.
