Sharps 1877

Does any one know how many 1877 Sharps were produced ?
I have Frank Sellers book and it states the factory made 98.
How ever the factory sent out parts and other gun smiths made '77's how ever they are not as collectable as the factory made 77's
as they used 74 parts and modified them.
Clear as mud?
