Rick depending upon on your rifle, the quality of the sight that you now have, it might be worthwhile to have a base built to raise the sight on the tang. I imagine a block of aluminum w/ the screw approprite hole spacing (& a bottle of aluminum blakening) might be a great deal cheaper than buying a new sight.

Rick, it somewhat depends on the rifle you are shooting, but other than that there are a number of different Mfg's that offer long range sights that should be able to do everything you want. MVA, Kelley, and the Ukranian sights will all shoot beyound 1000 yds with the correct base, and be repeatable for accuracy. I have all three, and they are all good. Randy

Ray,
Good idea I hadn't thought about building an extender type base. I will keep it in mind. Even though I need to replace my current sight. I plan on doing some 1500 yard shooting, and am not sure if any of the sights will get me this much range with my 45-90. Even with 90 gr of powder.
Omaha,
Which of those sights offers the most elevation. I had a Ukranian (Borchardt type) sight on a previow rifle an was very fond of it.
Thanks
Rick

xtra long range sight and base
With my current Pedersoli 'soule' sight and base on my Pedersoli Billy Dixon model I am unable to run a cleaning rod from the breech. So keep that in mind!
Have a good day!

Here is a link for the Davide Pedersoli sight. The 405 is mid range and the 406 is long range.

Thanks pards
I ordered the Hoke sight if it isn't tall enough I will take Ray's sugestion and build an exytension for the base. I like the looks of the Hoke better than the Soule type. The Kermitool company are fine people and make doing business with them a real pleasure!!!!!!
