Started this last night, finished it this morning, my blood pressure told me to go lie down last night

Charlie,
I've got so many things bouncing around in my head on these things I can't stand it
Every once in a while, some will slip out the barn door
charlie young wrote:Good post, you must be done reffing football for the season and had a little time. 2 matches I really like and have time for, is the Big Gun/Little Gun and the Coker Memorial is the other.
I was called & asked to supply a crew for a playoff game, been done for a couple of weeks now
Have you forgotten, basketball has started & it overlaps with the football playoffs
I got plenty to do. I've been accused of burning the candle at both ends & trying to light it in the middle

Very well done, a better post I haven't read in sometime. Thought provoking and helpful, and insightful reasoning. Plus I agree 100%.
Very well done, on topic, and moved the conversation back to the topic,
Kenny Wasserbuger
Thank you Kenny, there's something to be said about common sense, reason & rational thought, it just ooozes out of me
semtav wrote:Holy Smokes Batman !!! That's the kind of feedback I like to see. Can't address everything online, but points well taken.
Semtav,
Thank you Brian, only observations, those observations are worth what you paid for them, + or -
Every topic that was brought up, was done so for a specific reason. Everyone of those topic's need to have the discussion started.
semtav wrote:Can't address everything online
Nor should you discuss significant parts of this "online", my only hope is to have spurred the conversation to get started, right now, it cannot wait.......with whomever you need to have that particular topic of conversation with.
I have been a member of the Montana Officials Association for 20 years, pool leader & Master Official, Football & Basketball, I tell my guys that when we are on that field, it's nobody's damn business what we say to each other, or how we come to our decisions & that we only tell coaches what we want to tell them
Some people need to step up, put up or shut up. I got tired a looooooong time ago, with people that bump the hell out of their gums about
this needs to be
that, &
that needs to be
this, you need to be doing
this, you need to be doing
that, why are you doing it
that way, why aren't you doing it
this way, & when
this &
that need to be done, where's
that gum bumping sum bitch at? No where to be found, my response to gum bumpers, SIT DOWN & STFUP, & if all you're going to do is bitch about how or why
this &
that is being done, leave, you're of no use to me.
Good Ole Brian H. doesn't need to step up or put up ANY MORE than he already does, good ole Brian H. has sponsored just shy of a $1000 dollars worth of plaques, every year, that's right, every year, since 2013, add that up............done adding yet? I could be buying a lot of OLD E or lead instead
Well, "It's your own damn fault, Why don't you go ask for plaque sponsors", glad you asked. There's already two well established, longer running shoots here, one North & the other South of town, businesses get hit & support those two, I'm not going to go hit them a 3rd, 4th & a 5th time, after awhile, they'll get tired of being hit, then they quit........ Git it?........I don't want them to quit the other two shoots we have here..... Hope that satisfys your...........whatever.
HMMMMM, I'm asking, answering & arguing with myself, something wrong here, must be the meds
There's a reason for/for not, doing something, remember that
How many peolpe know these things?
How many people even give it a thought?
Don't ever doubt me, am I batting a 1000, nope, just don't ever doubt me
Now, in bringing up that particular topic, in around 8 hours, (9:15 AM - 5:35 PM) two offers of sponsorship have been made, if someone else wants to sponsor, have at it, I'll gladly step aside, my financial burden is heavy enough already.
Conversation started, offers of solution laid at your feet. Check..........Next
Now, mind you I've had exactly two people in six years step up & ask if they could sponsor plaques, it was gladly accepted. One of the "Early" years, after a huge monetary expense for targets was laid out, the porta potty bill to be paid, & the "just getting started" shooter numbers were building up, shooters went around quietly on Sunday afternoon & took up a collection & presented me with an envelope with cash in it to help defray the "startup costs", it was damn sure humbly accepted. Over the years I've had two other gentleman walk up & hand me cash, "Put this on the porta potty bill", Thank you very much.
I'm not bitch'n, whining or complaining, these are statements of FACT, it is what it is, & I do it because I want to, but facts are facts, & I'll continue to do it as long as I can, just as long as that particular shoot supports itself, as soon as it doesn't it will be gone.
99 out of a 100 people, have no clue what HAS to take place.
A for instance, some people wonder, "Why do you do all this mowing"?, simple, when you drive through that gate & cross the cattle guard, you've got a couple hundred yards of mowed shoulder on each side of the road, then you drive through the gate where we park our campers & shoot from,
people smile, they think, "Wow! This place is mowed like a putting green, someone gives a sh$t," I gotcha & you & you haven't even parked your truck yet
Now, are shooting matches about mowing the grass,
HELL NO, there's so much more to it than that, however, it plays a very important role,
DON"T FOOL YOURSELF they are however about PERCEPTION
How do I know this? Because people tell me so, "Wow Brian, this is incredible, the road is mowed all the way from the highway, where we park our campers, the firing line, the target's, this is incredible," some one says it every year, I tell them thank you, you're welcome, & I get a lot of great help to do it.
Lets review:
Mowing/weed eating, #1 PERCEPTION, #2 you can see your misses behind the targets, #3 you aren't stomping thru the tall grass for four days, #4 after the dew or a rain, your pants aren't wet clear to your crotch.............. PERCEPTION
The simplest thing, mowing, just turned into a BIG DEAL & has an effect on many things
Think before you do/don't do something
When you do something, you have to "Think" to the horizon, not "Think" to the end of your nose
Let me put it to you this way, you may have the best concrete in the world,
BUT, (that's a really big but) if your finish work sucks, so does your concrete, thus ends today's lesson on............
PERCEPTION
There are people that talk about how things should be done, or want to form "committees" to study "It", whatever "IT" is, & there are people that go out & do them, generally better than a larger group that just talks about how things should be done
Brian, I don't know you all that well, however, you strike me as a let's figure this out, now, let's get it done.
Some advice, move your stampede strap from behind your head & place it under your chin, Take a FIRM hold of the reins.......... now.........
DROP THEM......... let that 4 horse hitch take their bits & run like hell with them, & just for good measure, take hold of that whip & sting each one of them on the ass cheek, just to let them know what's expected, use it sparingly.
You've been around long enough to see that there was a recipe, formula so to speak, to work from & why anyone would think it wise to come into possession of that recipe & take a firm hold of the reins & pull hard on them & yell "WHOA", defies logic,
that formula produced the most successful, popular, largest & enjoyable Buffalo Rifle Match IN THE WORLD..........BAR NONE.........FACT
If something doesn't work,
face it, change it, move on,
don't repeat it
Brian, you've got a great match a brewing here, you can do this, you know who to bring into that tight inner circle, one was sitting at the table, the other was making the rounds with that huge smile on her face & a hug ready
& she''d do it every year, happily
This is a memorial match for a stoic man of the most popular, largest, Buffalo Rifle Match in the world.........
LET.......THEM.........RUN
Sometimes you just have grab hold of the reins, run your fist up his mane & place it between his ears, sink spur, scream like a Comanche & bring that quirt down on his thigh
Don't run off blindly now it'll be fine
I'm going to step away for now, as my blood pressure is..........well, every time my heart beats, it moves my upper body on the backrest of the chair
I'll speak no more of this..........
maybe
I'm not upset, I'm passionate
Rest easy now
