I typically use very tight patches soaked in kroil, or/and lead away patches depends on how heavy the lead is and how stubborn.

Chris, I use "lead free cloth" and a jag, works great. Just don't rub it on the case hardening. It will remove it.

Brass brush with a 50/50 mix of ATF and kerosene.

1 of the newer lead removers like borekleen rimfire solvent - eliminates a lot of the work. Their chameleon gel for really stubborn stuff, it will also work for carbon fouling. Or shoot PP bullets, no leading to worry about if done correctly

Tight patch and turpentine. This really gets the lead out quickly. I use Grumbacher pure gum spirits. You can get it at art supply stores or online. I've used Kroil but it seems to lead up again faster after using Kroil.

For handguns nothing best Lewis lead removal. Not sure if it would work on a rifle due to barrel length, but it might?? I’m with Bob, use paper patch

Some people figure this out right away, some take a little longer, some never catch on...
I can't imagine why anyone shoots greasers in a singleshot.

I believe the OP asked how to remove it, not how to prevent it.
A very tight patch with solvent. So tight it has to be driven through the bore. Might take several if it's bad.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
But turpentine, kroil, etc. and a very tight patch - maybe some JB bore paste. And finally you will have a temporary solution to the symptoms, but not a cure for the problem. A little paper will go a long ways to fixing that conundrum.

It's about as easy as falling off a log. If you want to learn, it doesn't take long. Does take a new mould.
