I recently obtained a '74 carbine in 50-70. Wow what a little thumper. I could be wrong (I'nm not that experienced yet) but 50-70 seems to be the least troublesome cartg. I've loaded thus far. In fact I shot a 1.1" five shot group with it using 65grs of Cartg. bell case, .060 walter's wad, 544 gr lyman bullet spg lubed , bell brass and fed 215 primer. I don't know the velocity as I havne shot it over my chrongraph yet. What an accurate little gun. Kirk you sure can build 'em. My collection now includes a #1 in 45-110, a hartford in 45-70, #3 in 50-90, a '63 carbine Farmingdale and the carbine. I guess I like Shiloh a whole bunch.

The Lyman 515141 is their 450 grain bullet.
Shoots well in my '63 Military and I'm looking forward to it in a .50-70 '74 Military.
