breech block retaining pin

good morning Kirk I got my new old rifle back and been shooting and noticed that the breech block pin has a square shoulder on it and that my new hartford has a pin with a tapered neck on it and it goes back together a whole lot easier than the old one. can the old pin be replaced with the new style or can the action be recut to take the new style pin? if possible I would like to get this done.............thanks Dean
