I was thinking the other day about what a BPCR Silhouette match would be like with No spotters allowed...or maybe just a spotter for the sighters and then the shooter does it all on the targets for score.
Jeanne and I have tried that in practice with the shooter doing all the wind calls and it seemed like fun.

Come to shoot in Bisley, UK. That's the way matches are shot. Once on target, you're on your own.

I have thought about doing a no sighters match sometime next year.

That was "Hunter Silhouette". We shot a few times as a side match at Raton, then it died.

Bisley in the UK...I can only dream about a trip like that. Touring really old places with a lot of history and visiting the old gun makers shops. That sounds like a once in a lifetime trip ...for me anyway. If you do that often you are indeed a fortunate person.
Ian...if you do that Jeanne and I may need to make the trip to your neck of the woods. We realize we aren't getting any younger . This virus thing has us running scared I'm ashamed to admit.

Same thing at the Canadian BP Championships near Ottawa, every August: No spotter: Spotting scope and shoot !!

We would love to have you two at the range. I have also given some thought about doing a smokeless vs black powder match. I would probably have to impose velocity limits

Again...something some of us have thought about. Maybe letting a Ruger #1 in 45-70 shoot?? Maybe a modern scope ?? Recruiting more shooters for sure. Next month we're having a long range 22( 200 meter) silhouette match..shoot whatever at steel targets. A true plinker's match for 5 bucks.

Yea I think that would be fine. Our targets can’t take the abuse that a ruger can hand out which is why for that stuff I would have to check the speed of the ammo that whoever is using

Is having Another No Spotters match Thurs/Friday Sept 24 and 25- It is the American Creedmoor Cup match. 8,9,1000yds
Followed by a two days Sat,Sun Sept 26,27 3x 15 shot strings ALL at 1000 yds each day.

Sounded fun, but wasn't. It died a graceful death.

I do enjoy shooting the target matches without a wind coach, but do better with one. I'll be shooting my first long range match since 2014 at Atterbury this weekend. Should be squadded with Aviator and Willie Pool. It will be Willie's first 1000 yard match. He did well (won), his first 600 match last year in GA with Aviator spotting. I'm in good company.
